Newly-married singer and all-round entertainer Akothee, who was recently appointed the Homa Bay County Brand Ambassador, is on Friday expected to spearhead The Roan Antelope 2023 half marathon which is due to run through to Saturday at the Ruma National Park.
The marathon, which has attracted some of the most notable names in the marathon field in Kenya, will see Akothee lead the star-studded pack of athletes as winners scramble to bag the coveted Ksh.1.25 million cash prize.
The one-of-a-kind marathon will kick off from the Nyangot Gate and snake through the twisty roads and eventually end at the same spot still within the park.Besides staging a spectacular sporting show, marathoners and organizers will also be looking to raise funds for the conservation of the endangered Roan Antelope.
To create awareness to the event, Akothee and her team stormed the Homa Bay streets in full swing as she drove through densely-filled streets to a rousing welcome from frenzied county residents.
As she waved at fans from atop her car, crowds thronged, swayed and seethed bringing the town’s activities to a partial stand still as the pandemonium peaked.
At one point, the newly-christened Mrs. Schweizer ‘Omosh’ was denied entry into a local supermarket as she attempted to buy food stuff for the gathered masses.
“At this point, the crowd activity had gone out of control and the supermarket managers had to close it down until all was calm. We simply couldn’t access the store,” Akothee told Citizen Digital.
After the commotion died down, Akothee was seen walking down the streets as her all-suited up, heavy security detail flanked her. Her close friend Sandra Dacha, a local actress, also accompanied her.
In other pictures she shared online, the ‘Sweet Love’ singer can be seen gearing up for the day’s sporting activities as she got down to a mock run along a clean tarmac road.
Akothee’s post-wedding schedule seems to have gotten even busier as she settles down to being a wife and juggling a myriad of government appointments and engagements.
