Huawei Technologies has partnered with the world marathon record holder who is widely regarded as the best marathon runner in history, Eluid Kipchoge to inspire and inform young people on their life journeys.
Reason for the partnership
The tech company aims to instil in them the key virtues required for success, namely endurance, tenacity, and adaptability.
Kipchoge said in a campaign statement, “We persevere in training to get better as we all have our ups and downs.” We become more inventive and improve every day by working hard, both individually and as a group. If we have tenacity, commitment, and agility, we can pursue our goals and succeed in our world.
The initiative, according to Ms Mwaniki, is timely because more girls and women are entering the field of ICT professionals.
It will serve as a reminder for young women, in particular, to not run away from difficulties but rather to confront them head-on, overcome them day by day, and find allies who will support them in their endeavours, she said, adding that Huawei was honoured to collaborate with a Kenyan legend on the campaign given that the company has been operating in Kenya for over 20 years, employed thousands of Kenyans, and trained tens of thousands more.
The extraordinary success story of Kenya’s Silicon Valley is powered by Huawei, a company that has expanded to serve more than three billion people globally in just thirty years.
Contribution of the Tec company
The technology company has been dedicated to Kenya’s development and the expansion of the ICT industry for more than 20 years. It has aided in the development of communication networks that practically any Kenyan can utilize to access services for trade, health, education, and entertainment. With the assistance of more than 60 academic and non-academic partners, it has trained over 10,000 individuals while making a substantial contribution to the environment and the fight against poverty. The company continued in overcoming challenges to sustain the networks and innovate even during COVID-19 and in outlying regions of the country.

Net Worth
Eliud Kipchoge, a long-distance runner, has an estimated net worth of $3 million even though his salary is unknown. He has received yearly sponsorship, including a deal for seven million Kenyan shillings ($65,000) from Isuzu East Africa. Numerous photos on his Instagram profile of the athlete wearing apparel from Maurten, a sports drink company, and NN Investment Partners, imply that he has also benefited from partnerships with those businesses.
Personal experience
Huawei Kenya Director of Enterprise Business Steve Kamiya, who has been with the firm for 17 years and has advanced through the ranks, revealed his journey during the campaign’s debut. “The success I have personally experienced in my work, as well as the company’s overall success in Kenya, has been achieved by applying Eliud Kipchoge’s wisdom — persevering to overcome obstacles and devoting ourselves nonstop to developing the best technologies, people, and service for Kenya,” he said.
His experiences parallel those of Maureen Mwaniki, the vice director of programs management, who has spent the past nine years at the company working relentlessly to promote and teach young girls and women to pursue careers in the quickly increasing field of technology.
